It’s time, we’ve all been guilty of putting off cleaning the kitchen. Summer is here and it’s time to blow away those cobwebs and get everything looking spruced up and sparkly. We know that it’s usually a “spring clean”, but there’s no reason why you can’t do it again in the summer! Time to Shine
Give your sink that sparkle again. Spray generously with distilled vinegar and let this sit for 5 minutes. Using a paper towel, wipe the vinegar off in the direction of the steel grain. Dip a soft cloth in a little oil and wipe in the direction of the grain again, leaving your sink looking sparkling again. For a limescale built up tap. Use a plastic food bag and fill with a little bicarbonate of soda and water, let this soak in the tap for at least fifteen minutes, then wipe off with a damp cloth.
The Oven Solution
Cleaning tough stains from the oven is hard work. Save the elbow grease and try this simple solution to lift the burnt residue so it’s easy to remove. Mix 8 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda with a few tablespoons of vinegar to form a paste. Let this mixture soak into the stains on the oven and on the wire racks for half an hour, then wipe away with a sponge.
Don’t Hide your Hood
Remove the greasy residue from your cooking hood with a simple solution that’s easy to make at home. Mix half a spray bottle with water and a third of the bottle with distilled vinegar. Spray this on the hood surface and leave for 5-10 minutes before wiping away in the direction of the steel grain with a soapy cloth. Wipe again with a paper kitchen towel to leave this dry and smear free.
Sparkling Pans
To remove the burnt on stains from the bottom of your pans, sprinkle baking soda on the surface beneath. Pour vinegar on top of this and use half a lemon to scrub away. The tough burnt stains should lift off returning your pans to their shiny former state. For cleaning non-stick frying pans which can suffer from scorched oil stains; cover with a small layer of water then sprinkle generously with baking soda to create a paste. Let this soak into the pan for at least an hour, then rinse and wash this out.
